THis will put it in storage mode and then see if the program reads the frimware. If you plug the USB cable in, you only have to turn the camera on and press OK. If you have olympus master installed you can see if the program can talk to the camera.
#Olympus master does not recognize my camera plus#
Recent experience with Olympus USA - Mininium $200 to repair my E-500 plus they told me the attached standard lens which was not sent for repair was another $75 - Decided to buy a new SONY 390L instead of repairing it or buying the E620 - A few years ago, Olympus wanted $100 to fix one of my standard lens and when I said no, the person said let me talk to my supervisor and came back with a price of $40 and I then had the lens repaired. they will repair it for about $150 I woudl guess. Thank You, I'll give it a look, and let ya know if I have any luck. You can find the instructions by searching for them in this group: *The camera didn't go through any trauma before the problems. I probably just gave way too much info, but wonder if I should try and do a firmware update, or if this just sounds like the typical death of a DSLR. So, I don't know 100% that it's taking pictures (but it is) All I have right now is an xD card, that my card reader doesn't read. HOWEVER, when I press the shutter, it sounds like it takes a picture, and I am almost sure it does. If I try and go through the steps to get a shutter count, after I press menu+ok it show "Olympus", e-520, 02 01 01 01 After that, it won't show anything else. I can't press the "play" button and see anything I took previously. I can't get the lcd to display anything unless I open the shutter door. After a few seconds, that will usually quit. When I turn the camera on, nothing is displayed on the lcd, and the lens will start skitzing back and forth (just sounds like the auto focus is trying to focus on something). Right now, it won't let me check the count. I don't know the shutter count, but I do know it has to be high. My camera has gone whacko, and am hoping for any answer/suggestion.
